This one-day course is ideal for beginners or flower enthusiasts interested in exploring the basics of wedding floristry - whether you’re making flowers for your own wedding, those for a friend, or simply curious to explore what working with flowers is all about. In this class, you will learn the fundamentals of creating three essential wedding designs: a bridal bouquet (using the spiral technique), a gathered buttonhole, and a wrist corsage. Each design is a beautiful, timeless piece that can be applied to any wedding setting, regardless of colour scheme, season or style.
Throughout the duration of this one-day course, you will cover:
– Bridal Bouquets – styles, theory, and construction
– Buttonholes – styles, theory, and construction
– Wrist Corsages – styles, theory, and construction
You’ll learn how to choose and work with seasonal flowers and foliages, focusing on the techniques and styles that are perfect for creating stunning wedding florals. We will guide you step-by-step through each design, offering tips on how to ensure each piece looks polished and professional, while also giving you the opportunity to develop your own creative flair.
As with all of our courses, we’ll be working with the season’s best materials, including British grown flowers and foliages, sourced directly from our local growing partners when the season allows. Single use plastics (such as anchor or pot tape) will be kept to an absolute minimum in this course.
Floral Essentials: Weddings is a practical and inspiring introduction to wedding floristry, perfect for those looking to explore the world of wedding flowers. By the end of the class, you’ll have gained the skills to create three classic wedding designs, and will have a deeper understanding of the techniques used by professional florists. Many students choose this class as a first step before taking on more advanced wedding floristry courses, such as our 2 Day Wedding Foundation Class.
Our class size is kept to a maximum of ten guests to ensure a peaceful environment, with plenty of tutor:student interaction. Basic tools will be provided, and please note, no prior experience is required to join us on this class.
