Welcome to our brand new for 2027 Retail Floristry Essentials Class.
Across two days of friendly, supportive tuition, you’ll discover a selection of practical floral designs, created specifically to introduce you to the skills required when producing flowers for real customers and everyday retail briefs.
Over the course of the two days we have together, you’ll explore how to create beautiful flowers at a range of different price points, while developing a greater understanding of flower recipes, substitutions, wrapping, presentation, pricing and perceived value.
We’ll introduce you to the different considerations involved in retail floristry, from selecting suitable flowers and controlling quantities through to managing stock, reducing waste and ensuring each finished design feels generous and appropriate for its selling price.
Throughout your time with us, we’ll be covering:
A £25 wrapped gifting bouquet
A £65 aquapacked bouquet
A corporate vase arrangement
A sympathy posy
A funeral wreath
A retail wedding buttonhole and corsage
Alongside the practical projects, we’ll explore professional wrapping, flower recipes, substitutions, stock rotation and waste. We’ll also introduce you to the essential elements of costing and pricing, including flower costs, labour and the associated costs involved in producing each design.
As with all of our courses, we’ll be working with the season’s best materials, including British grown flowers and foliages, sourced directly from our local growing partners when the season allows.
This course is ideal for those who are brand new to commercial floristry, those who are considering working within a flower shop or studio, or developing florists who would like to improve their understanding of retail flowers, costing and pricing.
Our Floristry Essentials Class can be useful preparation before joining us, but it is not compulsory.
If you’re looking for a practical introduction to creating beautiful flowers that work for both the customer and the business, Retail Floristry Essentials is an excellent starting point.
Please note, no prior experience is required to join us on this class. All flowers, materials and basic tools will be provided.
Our class size is kept to a maximum of twelve students to ensure a peaceful environment, with plenty of tutor support throughout.
